Training for weight loss tip #1 – Mindset
Before you start training for weight loss, you need to believe that you can succeed.  Without that belief, you mind will sabotage any efforts you have in your training regime.  The way to do this is to set goals.  You can set a goal like ‘I want to lose 2 pounds a week’ and that would be a great goal.  what you want to do next is set a micro goal that supports that goal.  A micro goal to support ‘I want to lose 2 pounds a week’ would be something like ‘I will cut out 500 calories and exercise for 15 minutes today’.  Notice that I used the word ‘today’.  What that does is it gives you the sense of urgency and that it is happening now and not tomorrow or next week.  This does two things; it takes away the procrastination that you may have and it also helps you focus on smaller steps because you are only focusing on today.

Training for weight loss tip #2 – Strength Training
In order to have a success weight loss program, you need to include weight training in your plan.  You want to start building muscles because muscles burn more calories.  You will lose more weight by doing weights!  I recommend using free weights instead of using machines.  The reason for choosing free weights is because it works the whole body by employing all your muscles groups including the smaller stabilizer muscles.  Dumbbell squats and Dumbbell Chest Press are two very effective workouts.  Perform weight training 3 times a week will produce results.

Training for weight loss tip #3 – Nutrition
There is a saying that goes ‘You cannot out train a poor diet’.  If you have poor eating habits, there is not workout in the world that could help you lose the weight.  Nutrition is a crucial part in training for weight loss.  A good nutrition not only fuels your body with energy, it helps in speedier recovery after a workout.  Avoid consuming simple sugars and processed foods such as canned foods with lots of sodium, white breads and pastas made with refined white flour and frozen fish sticks.  What you want to do is eat a healthy balance diet from these five food groups.

Fruits
Vegetables
Cereals
Dairy
Poultry, Fish and Meat products

This will ensure that you get the proper amounts of dietary fiber, essential vitamins and minerals.  A good trick is instead of having 3 meals a day, you may want to consider eating smaller meals and having 5 meals a day like breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, supper.  When you break it up into smaller chunks and eat all day, you prevent yourself from starving and then binging.  What that also does is you are telling your body that you will be constantly feeding it so that your body does not need to store the food as fat for later use.

Training for weight loss tip #4 – Journal, Journal, Journal!
Use a journal and log your daily progress.  There are a couple of reason too why you should journal.  Reason one, if you don’t how do you know if you are hitting your target.  For example, if you want to reduce your calorie intake per day from 2100 to 1600, how do you know if you have reduced it if you don’t track it.  Reason two, it will help you to stay focus and keep the vision alive and it can also trigger you to make adjustments if need be.
