‘Muscles grow by tearing them apart’ Really?

    WRONG!!!!!!!!

“A common misconception in the gym is that in order for your muscles to grow you need to tear your muscles such that they grow back stronger. This is incorrect.? When you tear a muscle, the muscle cell dies and is replaced with scar tissue, not muscle. Therefore your goal should never be to tear your muscles”

  8. aeonjoey says:

man it’s so true! before i started doing protein shakes, I would get sore muscles for DAYS and I’d usually skip a day bc i hurt so bad, once I started, my healing time is cut in half, no more skipping bc of sore muscles! I like the blender bottle bc it breaks down the chunks. :P

  9. KyoOmaya says:

@puffigman lol lots of spagetti dinners for me =)

  10. Runningonempty3 says:

    @aeonjoey
same here, after a workout i would hurt the next day whereas now i have a little bit of protein before my workout and a little after and now theres very little ache. also found i can do more at the gym without getting tired but that could just be in my head!
my main reason isnt to get bigger its just so i can go to the gym without aching the next day and be more productive than without the protein

  15. Zoidypoo89 says:

From what I’ve heard the standard recommendation (for people who lift weights) is 2 grams of protein/kg.

    So shouldn’t the formula be weight/2.2 * 2?

  16. Zoidypoo89 says:

@L0o0o0o0o0o0L 95 grams of protein each day is too little, unless you weight 40 kg (about 85 lbs)

  17. Zoidypoo89 says:

@videojohn115 if you weigh 140 lbs you should be eating about 130 grams of protein each day.
    body weight/2.2 * 2.

  18. tactical321 says:

since protein gets thrown out after 5g. when is it the best to start drinking more? how long between drinks?

  19. tactical321 says:

too bad i am lactose intolerant, whey is diffinitely not for me. i do wheat protein. i started to see results instead of shitting water poop everday.

  20. videojohn115 says:

@Zoidypoo89 oh haha i did math wrong, thanks man. 130g is a lot though, my diet is pretty much just protien and its hard 2 break 100g… i have 60g drink after i lift. and about 20g a meal, three meals..

  21. Zoidypoo89 says:

@videojohn115 Huh? It’s not hard at all to break 100 grams? Say that you eat 200 grams of meat for dinner. That’s 40 grams of protein, then you get your protein shake, that’s 60 grams, and say you drink a pack of milk each day, that’s 50 grams of protein more… And if you eat, say, 200 grams of pasta, that’s like, 30 grams of protein. And then I suppose that you’ll eat something for breakfast and something before going to bed too. If you eat about what I said here, you should get 200 grams..

  22. iTzMaJorTaK says:

how do you find out your bodyfat?

  23. CoffeeBeatsTea says:

@iTzMaJorTaK i’m not sure what the test is called but you get some calipers and clip around your belly area and measure how much your skin or fat expands. you should go to a doctor or talk to a fitness instructor if you want to find out more

  24. runemborg says:

Scott, the thing about 30 gram protein an hour is a myth. Your body takes the protein it needs – it can be less, it can be more, but as for body builders it usually is 30-45 gram an hour tho! ;)

Yay! really exciting! Good luck with everything! I like the meal planning idea. I say that I meal plan, but usually pick 3 recipes to make for the week. how I prefer to do things, but this week I picked up some veggies like to make, and either improvise or look for a recipe featuring the ingredient and make changes as necessary. All things considered, definietely prefer a meal plan over no meal plan.
