    @Weilinjoey It depend on your age sex weight but if you do walk 4 to 5 times a week for 45t0 1 hour and eat well lots of fruit vegetables lean meat you will loss i am about 258 right know in september last year i was over 310 know i am trying to east less and try not to east past 7pm at night also try add some weights to your upper body and leg lifts for your stomach i was lazy this two last week because of vacation got to get back on regiment of walking and eating right..

    @Weilinjoey be patient the first step is to start i have weeks that i let a day or so go bye without walking just don’t give up get back on routine..and you will win the battle i also keep a spreadsheet with my weight miles reps for weight and food log of all i eat that day this will keep you accountable..God bless you keep on walking…

    @xCubanChik93 i agree as much as you can walk try eat right fruit vegetables lean meats and try smaller portions also try not to eat past 7-8pm also swimming is excellent except you need pool…lol Good luck also right down your daily progress of amount of exercise as well as everything you eat it will keep you accountable..

    i do 10k on the cross trainer, and 10k on the treadmill everyday (2.5hrs). I keep my heart rate at around 125-130, and along with a controlled diet i have managed to lose 18lb in 4 weeks.

    @Weilinjoey Keep it up i am down 251 and trying to get back on walking 2.2 miles at least 5 times a week got lazy last four weeks due to my daughter being out of school but last three day i have walked and try to do some weight also for upper body also try not to eat past 7pm and eat healthier and less of course lol

    @BakaTenshi1975 walking is very good and any activity is better than none.. but always remember your walking to exercise. that means keep the heart rate up and focus on what your there for. dont treat it as a little stroll down the road because thats not what walking to lose weight is about. you would have to triple the distance just “strolling” compared to walking for cardio

    I like taking walks. It doesn't matter if it's fast or slow, for 15 minutes or an hour…if you have someone that you can converse with, the time flies by and you got some exercise as well. Walking is enough for people who are already pretty active and in shape. I think that for those who need to lose weight, walking should be part of a larger exercise routine.

    Actually I don’t like do exercise very much. The reason is very simple, because most exercise to me are not interesting. However, according to doctor’s advice; do exercises can make our body keep healthy, so I push myself do exercise sometimes. Another reason urge me to do exercise is it can help me lose weight. Walking on the streets or parks in nowadays, I usually see many people jogging on road. On the other hand, some of my neighbored join a fitness centers, they almost go to there everyday or every two days. As the author’s opinion, do exercises just like a fashion.     The main things you need to change is cardio and diet. If you really care enough about this, you need to do the calculations so that you spend 500 calories more than you take in everyday. You accomplish the calorie deficit by eating less, exercising more, or a combination of the two…you also need to changeup the cardio routines every two or three weeks to avoid hitting a plateau.

    I think that it is great that you want to help your friend.

    You could both try losing weight together or doing it for charity. This is a great way to motivate him and encourage him to lose weight.

    Also he could try doing light exercise every weekend e.g. going on a 10 mile walk (or a distance he can manage) and then stopping for a healthy picnic. This makes a great day out and it also provides exercise.
