Yes, it is totally possible! Actually, its easier to lose fat while gaining muscle and it is recommended to do so. I will offer you some tips as I am a med student and have had my fair share of weight loss/fat-losing/muscle building issues.
First off, do some weight lifting at least three to four times per week. It have to be Hulk stuff, just some three to four sets with twenty reps on your arms one day and legs another day will do the trick. Do not weight lift two days in a row.. you have to skip at least a day in between and you have to alternate between your body areas (i.e. arms one day, legs the next).
