Cossack Squats with 60lbs of Chain – Improve Leg Strength / Hip Mobility / Knee Stability

Complete Muscle Building System www.acceleratedmusculardevelopment.com ORIGINAL POST http Cossack Squats with 60lbs of Chains What are Cossack Squats? Cossack squats are done by performing a lateral lunging motion. The toes can be slightly pointed out or straight forward during the movement. The lifter or athlete will move their feet outward to a sumo or slightly WIDER than sumo position. From their the torso is braced and forced outward as the lifter / athletes moves to the right / left. The knee moves forward tracking over the toes and on the straight leg the toe comes up. Settling into the bottom position will depend upon your hamstring / glute flexibility and hip / ankle mobility. The lifter / athlete can stand straight back up (easier) or slide across to the other side (harder). The slide technique keeps constant tension on the legs. would this be done before or after a squat/deadlifht?

  2. smittydiesel says:

you could do them bodyweight only to warm-up for squats and deadlifts or you could overload (or just do them with your bodyweight) them after your primary movement.

It really doesn’t matter which way you want to do it bro.

Smitty you never cease to surprise me.

  11. smittydiesel says:

Definitely. Personally, I would opt for a dumbbell held in front of you at chest level.

    Mike,

I appreciate the support, but it is definitely not something I came up with. This mobility / stretching movement has been around for a long time. We just added some weight.

Great article, props for addressing the issue in such a clear way! Every woman is different and has differing perceptions of the issue based on what she has seen/read, how she sees herself, what she wants and so on. For men to try to interpret this in a blanket fashion often just comes across as patronising. Surely men know by now that women are more complicated than that?!

Of course one way around the whole issue is not to make strength training about looks at all! You *will* look better as a side effect of training, not only because of changes in your physical composition but also changes in your attitude, confidence, level of empowerment and so on. The message is: if you do real strength training, good things happen. :)

I wanted the Blackberry Bold more than anything!! But I couldn't wait, especially since it will probably be months before it comes to Verizon. I'm pretty happy with my Pearl though and will hopefully have the iPhone sometime this week!

Blahh Google Reader. It's intimidating! I got mine down to 500-something and need a breather.

By the way, working out makes you lose fat and gain muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat, so technically you might “weigh” more, but since muscle is slimmer than fat, you will look skinner. That's why I stay away from the scale!!
