    Novick’s crusade against the health(!) food Olive Oil is absurd and misleading, as usual. The volume of olive oil consumed is so small that its calorie density is harmless. Also, Novick ignores the important difference between omega-9 (olive oil) and omega-6 (which really makes you fat, and is eaten in much higher volumes!) or even trans-fats (worse than omega-6). That’s why Americans (low olive oil consumption, but high omega6+transfats) are much fatter than Mediterranean people.

    I was just pulling my hair out this morning after reading this thread on a vegetarian message board (The McDougall Plan forums) I frequent. The resident dietitian there, Jeff Novick, just posted a long message yesterday debunking the effect of yo-yo dieting on metabolism (He previously stated that there's no such thing as “starvation mode) and is one of those people who says it's better to keep at your weight loss efforts over and over again rather than stay at a higher weight:

    ok,if he says so.Roach doesnt really have anything else outside of boxing.No other interest,no wife,no kids etc just boxing.I guess he has to keep doing it even if he shakes!
