Calgary Landscape Design – Follow this steps to beautify your garden

Step 1

Consider the maintenance aspect. Do you love working in the yard and garden, getting your hands dirty, pruning and weeding? Or do you just leave things to chance by planting shrubs with hope that they will grow healthy? Maintenance is the biggest factor if you want a beautiful Calgary landscape design. However, a beautiful landscape would not need too much maintenance if you would be able to tend it well. Consider leaving out spaces for annuals if you would have annual flowers in your garden. You can just sow self-seeding flowers or perennials if you have no plans on planting shrubs before summer.

Step 2

Consider the plant options.  Using native plants is becoming more and more popular, and will contribute to a more low-maintenance landscape. Maybe you would want to have more blooms in your garden? Do you like your landscape design calgary to be filled with life throughout the year? What about winter options? Do you prefer conifers around your home? Would you like to have hedge around the house? Do you want to grow flowers you can cut and bring inside for arrangements? Check out some gardening sites so you’ll have some knowledge on the shrubs that will be good in your garden.

Step 3

Think of some adorning alternatives. Would you like to have a big visual impact with a fence, gate, gazebo, large stones or water feature? Should you have some family picnics outside, then you would need some outdoor lighting. Before you start drawing in your plants, draw in your decorative features, as you will have less flexibility with where they go.  You can have these extras mainly for decoration or for full property function like a ranch gate. Place it where it makes the most sense for the way you and your family already use the yard. For example, if you want to put in a stone path, and your kids already cut across the yard in a certain pattern, go ahead and put the stone path where they already walk. Let the landscape elements flow smoothly into what your family have been used to do.

Step 4

Find bigger plants foremost. Big trees in particular should be prioritized. Consider how big they will be when fully grown, and give them that much space. While they are still young and growing, you can plant annuals around them to fill in the space. It is important, however, that you don’t crowd a bunch of perennials around because you’ll simply end up overcrowding your yard and you might have to dig out some of those plants you worked so hard to get in. You should also consider placing the big trees in such a way that it will give a cool shade to your home in summer. I would suggest you to find a Calgary landscape designer for the ultimate success of your project.
