The Brandt-Daroff exercise for vertigo will help controll vertigo in time.Once you get rid of the problem, like me,you don’t have to exercise every single day anymore. If you feel like the vertigo symptoms coming up,just continue exercising again and besides,it’s free. After so many years of discomfort I now can live normally without these terrible dizyness.
saw epley´s maneuver and a spacialist
Many thanks your Tube. It is very useful for me in treatment for my patients
so it mean I HAVE TO EXPERIENCE dizziness for 30 seconds???????? waaaaaaaaaaaaah
Hello there.great video !
Yes, today my audiologist (a well-respected specialist at a very highly ranked research hospital) specifically told me to watch this video to review how to do the Brandt-Daroff technique after the Eppley procedure failed to work for me. I would say there are other opinions besides those of the audiologist who commented above. Thanks very much to the physical therapist poster of this video!
My audiologist said this does not work overnight, but he said it can help to dissolve the crystals faster – often over a period of 1-2 weeks. He said to continue the exercises 3 times a day (morning, noon, night) and to do 3-5 reps each time. I tried this for the first time today but could only get through 3 times as the dizziness was so intense. The doc said to keep doing these until I could go 2 days in a row without symptoms.
I haven’t been to the doctor to find out which side is my worst (though I think it’s my left), but since this exercise is done in both directions, I’m wondering what harm there is in just guessing and doing it anyway?
@cervelo58 If you don’t have any money or no insurance….(besides dizziness) what are some ways to tell what ear it is in?
What direction is the room spinning?
What side (right or left) provokes the spinning?
If you turn your head, which direction provokes the spinning?
If you can’t describe true spinning, episodic in nature, provoked by changes in head position then Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) is less likely to be your diagnosis.
Tim
@cervelo58 Mostly to the left. Turning my head to the right.
@apowers427 but people like me can’t do that. i barely have money, and i have no insurance.
i was diagnosed for positional vertigo in my left ear (dont remeber which tube) and after doing the maneuver accordingly, the docktor told me i should be ok !I had it for 2 months before i went to the docktor, and i still feel a bit dizzy sometimes. I went back to the docktor who performed a electronustagmograph(correct??) and told me that my tubes are ok. So does anyone know how long for the brain to rebalance???

Listen doctor, I think you are smart in using the web for accessibility for your patients, I just dont know if you’d like a legal case on your plate or not.
- another DPT
Hi Beth,
Sorry, I´m not a doctor, just a PT.
I´m familiar with the risks of medical malpractice (I assume that´s what you´re referring to). I´ve also vetted these “educational” videos with my malpractice carrier.
Did you have some specific advice or comment or were you just fearmongering?
Tim
Sounds like fearmongering to me.
Thanks for the information. Your video was helpful. Beth sounds like a doctor wanting a bigger slice of the pie to me.
God forbid anyone lives so far from a doctor, or has no insurance, and can’t go see Beth… Since she obviously knows it all.
Hi Tim,
I was diagnosed with vertigo 25 years ago after doctors couldn’t seem to figure out my problem. I understand you’re not a doctor, and I’m not asking for a diagnosis. I would like to ask you though, how do you know what ear it is that has the problem, or if there is a way to do it yourself? I’m dizzy most of the time to some degree or another. Movement and sight seem to provoke my worst attacks, however, I also have problems with sound and vibrations.
Thanks
Anna
Great video. How many reps/sets?
Please remember that there are multiople other causes of vertigo besides BPPV.My neighbor years ago gvae classic symptoms of vertigo and did not get better with the usual measures. Then I with embarrassment realized that he also had black tarry stools and we cured his vertigo with a blood transfusion and stopping his ulcer from bleeding! All the above demos are well done and very useful.
Malpractice for showing people how to lay on their side to ease dizziness? Silliness.
@cervelo58 I am a PA and showing someone how to lay on a table to try and possibly help their dizziness is not malpractice. I actually looked at this video to show a patient how to do it. Thanks for the video. There are always haters on the net. It is probably the worst part of listing a video on youtube.
here’s the trick.. go to mpiffy [dot] com for the best site to get this song.
