  5. Blueformdesign says:

    I’ve heard and read conflicting information regarding when to take the 5-HTP. At the moment I take it at night. I first tried it a couple of years ago and found myself whistling while shaving, I stop and thought “mmm this is new”. It really did seem to improve my mood.

  6. rmsolympic1 says:

    This might sound odd, but I found that drinking a nice, heavy Whey protein shake, especially at night, can knock me out in about 15-20 minutes. It works like a charm.

  7. NorthSideDevil says:

    Wow, this helps me sleep better. Anyone know if taking this daily will shut down the natural production of serotonin or melatonin within your system? I dont’t want take it all the time if it does that and then be awake for 4 days straight lol.

  8. Jose11amas says:

    were could I find this I think it will help when my roll dies

  9. WakeUpYouMoron says:

    Melatonin = restful sleep.
    5-htp = vivid nightmarish sleep.
    Diphenhydramine = hallucinatory sleep.
    Great sex = zero sleep. And priceless!

  11. BennyBooyah says:

    I’m taking this stuff after years on damn SSRIs and I have not looked back!

  12. ronnyboy1988 says:

    i’m prescribed adderall and 5htp really helps at the end of the day with my mood and sleep. great product

  13. coolshit28 says:

    Hang on a minute so 5HTP effects libido??? Dang so basically it has no advantages over SSRIs – is that correct?

  14. coolshit28 says:

    @BennyBooyah Interesting … did it help your libido?

  15. clickswitchh says:

    Tried this but the effect wears off after about a week … not that great actually

  18. bodhidarma1 says:

    Are you serious? You seriously recommended taking melatonin for sleep, you hack? Only melatonin that’s broken down by your body can induce sleep.
    …And I like the phrasing regarding side effects of 5-htp… “You will have nightmares…” I will??? Definitely? Or perhaps you should say maybe… or could. Nothing like a doctor who misinforms the populace.

  19. lightbrownpoop says:

    @coolshit28 no, ssri’s are a million times worse when it comes to decrease in libido, citalopram wrecked me, thankfully I went off it after 3 weeks and discovered 5-htp.

  20. lightbrownpoop says:

    i take Nature’s Bounty brand 100mg 5-htp (which is combined with 50mg valerian, 25mg magnesium, 5mg niacin, 5 mg vitamin B6) in each capsule.

  21. coolshit28 says:

    @lightbrownpoop Mm I was on Citalopram for 3 weeks on a small dose (10mg). Luckily it didn’t effect my libido or sexual desire at all! I came off it ’cause it wasn’t doing anything and at the time I would say I was only depressed and not majorly depressed. Things changed since then but probably best not to go into the details lol. Anyways I’m now on St John’s Wort (300mg) after weaning myself off Sertraline (50mg). Gonna look into getting some 5-htp soon. Thanks for your thoughts. Bless.

  22. lightbrownpoop says:

    @coolshit28 5-htp is great, i feel calm throughout the day and sleep great at night, although my pupils are often dilated. ssri’s made my pupils dilate as well though so i don’t really mind that. i tried st johns wort for a bit, but didn’t really notice any effects after a week and didn’t want to wait weeks and weeks for it to take effect. 5-htp works instantly for me.
